Acupuncture at Torquay Chinese Medicine is one of our most popular treatments - and for good reason! For many of our patients, acupuncture is a relaxing and enjoyable experience that they look forward to. After a thorough consultation with your Acupuncturist, a Chinese medicine diagnosis is made and an individualised selection of specific acupuncture points is chosen for you. Each of these points has a particular function, and the aim is to correct any unique imbalances you may have, with the overall aim of restoring the optimum health of your body & mind. Super fine, sterile, & single-use acupuncture needles are inserted into various points on the body's surface (known as 'Acupoints') in order to stimulate the flow of energy and blood along pathways of the body, called meridians. The acupuncture needles we use are extremely fine, ranging between 0.1 – 0.25 of a millimetre in gauge. The needles are usually retained for approximately 15-20 minutes, while the patient rests and relaxes on the treatment bed.
